10 Tips on How to Survive the Silly Season

Updated: Jul 6, 2020

It’s that time of year when we attend many Christmas and New Years parties, eat and drink way too much, and just not feeling our best because of all of the above. But it doesn’t have to be like that! Here are our top 10 tips on how to survive the silly season!

1. Drink plenty of water

Water is so important to keep us hydrated (and, no, alcohol doesn’t count!). It helps with digestion by breaking down food so that our bodies can absorb the nutrients more efficiently.

2. Don’t over do it with your drinking

Enjoy yourself and have some drinks with family and friends to celebrate the year that has been and the year to come. But don’t over do it by binge drinking. You’ll feel better the next day for it!

3. Don’t over do it with food

Enjoy the food that’s in front of you, but don’t stuff yourself silly. Try to make the healthier choice if you can.

4. Exercise! Of course, duh!

Go for a family walk, play backyard cricket. Make it fun for you and the family. Going for a walk between meals helps to aid digestion and stimulate your metabolism

5. Drink tea

If you do get full, drink a herbal tea to help ease that bloated feeling. My favourite tea for this is Roogenic's Super Detox tea.

6. Get plenty of sleep

Sleep helps to reduce stress, helps the body to repair itself, improves mood and memory. So if we get plenty of sleep during this Christmas period, think about how many good memories you will make because you’re not stressed, the body is feeling good and you’re in a fantastic mood!

7. Stretch

You will probably be spending a bit of time sitting, standing around and travelling at this time of year, so I think it is incredibly important that you give your body a good stretch.

8. Meditation

If this time of year is getting crazy busy and overwhelming, take a deep breath and spend some time doing meditation to calm your mind and your thoughts.

9. Give back to the community

With so many people going through hardship - particularly this time of year - donating to charities (whether it be money, clothes, sanitary items, toys for the kids) will bring a bit of joy to someone who needs it.

10. Practice gratitude

Sit back and think about all the things that you’re grateful for. And I’m sure most of the things that you’re grateful for will be right in front of you

From myself and Adrian, we wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
